The new restriction only monitors the maximum length, not the width. In previous years, the minimum width was set at 60 cm (K1), 70 cm (C1), 80 cm (C2).

Maxence Barouh is a member of the French national team in wild water. The young but experienced racer entered this season with high ambitions. From the first world cup in the Bosnian Banja Luka, he won a silver place in a long descent. Just before the start, he chose a different type of boat than the one he normally races on. Instead of Sicario, he raced on the new Wakatwo. But he succeeded - the change brought him a deserved medal.
"I want to do my best at the upcoming European Championships. That's why I decided to race on two different types of boats. I heard that the long race and sprint will take place on a very quiet section. I know that WAKATWO is a boat that is built for flat water. It's not as aggressive as Sicario, so you don't have to watch if the tip is shooting sideways and you can only focus on speed," explains Maxence Barouh.
"The Kick The Waves team delivered me a new Wakatwo for the World Cup. I finished race with a silver medal, and it was my premiere on this boat! For this reason, I will definitely race on Wakatwo at the long distance European Championship. I still don't know about sprit. I need to try the course and test both options. I take both - Sicario and Wakatwo and I hope, I will kick the waves with my Kick The Waves boats!"
Maxence Barouh needed a change. He thought of a boat that would be light, fast, and easy to handle. We did not wait and brought a new Wakatwo to Banja Luka, directly for Maxence. The French kayaker raced on a new boat in a long race and praised himself at the finish. Nevertheless, he remained loyal to his Sicaria, and raced in a sprint race with this boat.
"I'm used to SICARIO. It is a volume boat that is more suitable for men. It responds quickly to all subjects and can change your line in a second. The ship is quite stable and I am completely satisfied with it. In my opinion, it is especially suitable for wild water and canals, such as Pau or Bratislava. For this reason, at the World Championships, which will take place in September, I will definitely race on Sicario," adds the French racer.
The championship on the European continent will start in three days. All competitors from different parts of Europe are going to Sabero, Spain, where there will be fights for the titles of European champions.
"I think I'm ready. I spent a lot of time training in Toulouse. I did everything to be good in the classic race. I am motivated to get a good result here. My goal is to be among the top three kayakers, but nothing can be predicted in advance in this sport. There are many strong opponents at the start. Everyone is different and everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. At the moment, I can only say that it will be an exciting race, as always," says Maxence.
The championship also includes team reaces.
"With the French team of kayakers, we will also focus on the team race. I think we form a very strong line-up. I'm two hundred percent motivated to take the podium from this championship," says Maxance Barouh proudly. "I've never been to Leon, but I've seen some videos and talked to Spanish racers. The water will probably be flat, without technical passages "Even though I race better on wild rivers, I'm not complaining. If the championship is supposed to be on a flat river, it will be on a flat river and I will do my best and put everything into it!"
