The Krumlovský vodácký maraton took place in the second weekend of October. This year, the marathon celebrated its adulthood for the second time. Last year, due to a pandemic, this spectacular event was canceled and the eighteenth year could take place very intently. This year we remained stronger and the largest boating marathon in Europe could take place again.
More than eight hundred competitors took part in the start of the marathon. The route from Vyšší Brod measured 36kilometers. The second line started in Rožmberk and there were 26kilometers on the Vltava River. The last starting point was a race in the camp at Pískárna, from which the kids started.
Many competitors from the Kick The Waves team took part in the start of the longest section of the Krumlov marathon. The performance of the Olomouc representative Karel Slepica, who tested the "K1 Sea" category for the first time this year, is worth the highlight. In a busy competition, Karel did not find a better man and in the time of 2: 25: 39.00 he finished for a well-deserved title. "I have been racing in the K2 category for the last few years. The speed deblake glides a little better on this water, but it was a challenge for me. I chose the BORA sea kayak and at the finish I was surprised at what time I was able to go,“ comments the winner of the category, Karel Slepica.
The BORA sea kayak does not only stand out on the sea surface. It can be used for hiking and racing paddling on rivers, lakes and oceans. So it is also a great choice for river marathons. Thanks to its weight and easy operation, it stands out among other kayaks, which is confirmed by the results of our competitors.
Martina Satková also dominated the thirty-six-kilometer track. The competitor also tasted the magic of sea kayaking. On the BORA model, she finished for an absolute victory among women and was able to fight her way to a medal position among men. Martina was not enough just for the winner Karel Slepica and she took the second place in the men's category from the race.
"In the beginning, I was not happy that I was racing in the men's category. I thought I would put everything into the race, and I did. This year I raced on the sea kayak from Kick the waves for the first time. I really left everything on the thirty-six kilometer track. It was a challenge and it was worth it. Second in the men's category? That is a great result for me, "says Martina Saková.
Kristina Novosadová competed in wildwater kayak category, which she won in women (WINI). Junior competitor set the fastest time among adult women. In the men's category, Vojtěch Procházka fought his way to the podium (CAYENNE). The rider will take third place this year.
The pair Jakub Březina - Petr Dlouhý won in the C2 TOUR category. The competitors chose the TRIPPER model for this year's race and it bore gold medal. Second finished Zdenek Herzal with Tomas Kasal, who chose the same type of boat.
The Krumlovský vodácky maraton took place under government anti-epidemiological measures. Even so, competitors from sixteen countries came to this magnificent race. Many helpers, volunteers, rescuers and firefighters took part in the preparations, without which such a large race could never have taken place.
