With the introduction of the new rule, one of the parameters that previously bore the typical features of a wildwater boat was canceled. The new restriction only monitors the maximum length, not the width. In previous years, the minimum width was set at 60 cm (K1), 70 cm (C1), 80 cm (C2).

In a week's time, the first Czech Cup race will start in white water rafting. Fights for the national team jersey in three age categories will also break out with him. For many competitors, the Senior World Championships is the highlight of the season, which will take place in Treignac, France. The juniors and U23 representatives will have the European Championship, which will take place in Bosnia and Hercagovina.
Treignac. The Senior World Championships will take place in early June (June 3-6). The highlight will take place on the Vézère River, which flows through the French region of New Aquitaine. In the previous two years, respectively in 2019 and 2021, two World Cups took place on this track, thanks to which the competitors gained a better overview of the technically demanding terrain. This is a championship where a long race and sprint race will take place. In the Czech Republic, the nomination consists of six individual races, of which the four best results are included in the overall ranking. Long descents are hosted by Čeňkova Pila - Saturday, Kamenice - Sunday and Špindlerův Mlýn - Sunday. The sprint nomination race will also take place in Špindlerův Mlýn - Saturday and twice in Roudnice nad Labem.
"I hope we will race in the world championship in Treignac. I consider this race to be the highlight of this season. I am also curious about the results of the Czech long-distance championship, which awaits us very soon," says Daniel Suchánek, the current world champion in wild water.
Bosnia and Hercagovina. One of the most visited race tracks of all wildwater federations. This track will not be without a big boating event this year either. The term "Banja Luka, Vrbas" evokes memories of all competitors who have been on the national team over the last decade. This year, the Vrbas River hosts the European Junior Championship and the U23, which is associated with the date of August 25-28.
"I consider the European junior championships to be the highlight of this season. Last year, I fell ill just before leaving for the championship and I did not leave with the national team in the end. I was sad. I trained for a long time and the training was really challenging. Nevertheless, I think that there will be a lot of races and opportunities. I definitely didn't give up, on the contrary, it kicked me and I'm ready for the next races," comments junior competitor Kristina Novosadová. "If I manage to run the World Championships in Treignac, I will be happy, but the main race for me is Banja Luka."
A total of four nomination races await the junior competitors. From which the three best results are calculated. It will be Sunday's classic at Čenkov Pila, two sprints in Roudnice nad Labem and the junior championships in the long race in Litovel.
The nomination races in the U23 category represent a total of four races, two of which are in the long descent and two in the sprint. Two races in the classic at Čeňkov Pile and two races in the sprint in Roudnice nad Labem.
The course of the World Cup also brings a surprising change. Only one race from the entire World Cup series will take place this year. The whole competition will be in Celje, Slovenia (June 9-11). The long descent should be directed by the so-called "Mass start". For the next two days, the competitors will have two sprint races, which will close a short series for 2022.
"Choosing only one World Cup is a pity in my opinion. It deprives us of the opportunity to explore and ride wild rivers that we do not normally reach. Overall, it gives the sport a certain order. International races are extremely important, because comparisons with foreign competitors add a lot of power. Developing countries, which do not even have a comparison within their country, will make it much poorer. It is a great pity even when a completely calm river was chosen for the only World Cup race,“ describes Daniel Suchánek.
